I don't remember being as frustrated with a book character as I was with cassie when displayed absolute zero empathy when Shane when her with her brother. She fully expected him to deal with all her baggage and hot spots but his being cheated on by a fiance and best friend wasn't enough to let forgive him in less than a week. She was so self righteous and didn't pause even a moment to consider his pain. We are supposed to believe she loves him.....we are supposed to connect with her character when she is that self absorbed????? I love Dane, have read several series but this book was almost a DNF because of course I wanted the head over heels, delicious Shane to have an HEA but it was very hard to cheer for cassie when she kept insisting everyone bow to her issues when she showed how little she was willing to reciprocate. Uggghh. I still enjoyed all the petal characters, especially the Chase family.

One more annoyances.....why would sweet, very smart Maggie say something in front of cassie about shane's kissing skills. Even if she'd known they dated, it would still be totally uncool. If Maggie were going to do that she should have been way tipsy in the scene.

This is a great series! The second one great characters with a HEA . I have always enjoyed Lauren Dane's books and this series does not disappoint . Looking forward to the next Chase boy meeting his match .
This book is so intense and very, very HOT!!! I enjoyed this whole series, but if I had to say which one was my favorite....I'd have to say it's a toss up between Matt's and Shane's stories. Although through all the stories, Polly has made me smile the most. I think everyone has a Polly type person in their family.

And who wouldn't love to belong to a family like the Chase family, I know I would. Now days I think that's hard to find, but they are out there, and that's what makes this story seem so real to me.

Would I recommend this book? Yes, in a heart beat!
This is the second book (Shane's story) in the Chase Brothers series and if you haven't read the first one, go and do it. I am a big advocate of reading in order so I can truly appreciate the story line and these books can be read alone but you will get ten times more out of them if you read them in order. Also, if you have read the first one, Giving Chase (Kyle's story), you are already in love with the Chase family as a whole. Of course, the men are rugged, handsome as sin, and sexy but they are also sweet, caring, and wonderful - all due to their mama. The writing is wonderful and you find yourself in it with the descriptions.

I have read all four and now I truly feel as if I lost a friend. The town these are set in is friendly and quaint, the stories are hot, and the family is wonderful. Definitely keepers. The men or the books? Both. ;)
Shane and Cassie were a really good couple. He was the perfect amount of dominant male for her fragile heart. I loved that he was able to help her grow back into the strong and capable woman that she was before Terry. I loved how she was scared to open herself up to him and all of her new friends, but she pushed through and found her place in their world. I really enjoyed the interplay between all of the characters, especially Polly, she's so freaking funny. I can definitely see myself re-reading this.
WOW!!! This one is my all time favorite in the series even though I do have one more to read. Have I said how amazing a writer Lauren Dane is? Oh my goodness this story really had it all! It had mystery, suspense, action, comedy, love, and great sex. All of the attributes were well written into a great story I'm definitely sure I will go back and read one day.

Shane and Cassie and all the other characters did an amazing job caring out the roles that Dane wrote for each one of them. Cassie went through a horrific ordeal of spousal abuse and Dane wasn't afraid to get down and dirty when writing about it. She really could have gotten some flack for the violence that was written but she went with it and I must say hats off to her. She didn't rush the story and she played it out to the end. She really gave full account and put the characters through everything rather than rush through it and just tell the readers what happened.

I haven't experienced this much emotion while reading a story in a long time. I spent the whole day reading it and I am really exhausted because I had so many feelings come out while reading. It's a great exhaustion though! Definitely get this book!!

I just can't get on the Shane ban wagon. After the way he acted in the first book and this about face in this one. I would have liked it more if there was some sort of inner struggled where he actually saw the error in his was and stuff. I don't know. The bad taste in my mouth from the first book still lingers so it's hard to accept him thus way. Maybe I'm expecting too much, it's probably Elle's fault with her Bowen brothers stories. Now those brother stories are AMAZING. This not so much.

However I do like the other two bothers. Maybe it's the way they have come across or something but I'm going to be reading their books next in hopes they are better.
