Book 4, Charley's main case is searching for the culprit who has been terrorizing Harper since she was 5 years old. Her family believes she has been making it up for attention. Harper believe someone is out to kill her.

Some side cases involve Charley finding an arsonist, the identity of the gentlemen bank robbers, and the ever evolving story line with the demons out to kill her. The new development with the demons is that they are possessing people before going after her. This way they are protected from her light.

We got a few more pieces to the puzzle that is Charley. She showed some new abilities and her relationship with Reyes seems to still be moving forward, just at a snail's pace that picked up a bit there at the end. I'm hoping that momentum keeps up.

I'm still very much loving this series. it's highly entertaining with some great side characters. On to the next book...

The story, and the writing, just gets better and better. In the fourth installment of the Charlie Davidson saga, Ms. Jones reveals Charlie, her stunningly unique grim reaper/private detective character, as both a wounded but still flippantly sarcastic human and an emerging supernatural force. We also learn a little more about Reyes Farrow, the gorgeous and irresistibly sexy son of Satan, who, fortunately for the reader, Charlie is unable to resist. Add in a growing supporting cast of loveable characters, which includes a ghost/guardian demon-destroying Rottweiler, and you have Charlie's world, a world I'll continue to visit as long as the books keep coming.

The good
- the mystery of the week - or who's "fatal attraction stalking" Harper Lowell was interesting
- things heating up with Reyes who now has an actual body that he's making good use of
-Artemis the guardian romping in the shower
- Charley saving herself and squeezing the life out of her would be assassin

The bad
-Charley naming everything including her organs
- An underwhelming Grim Reaper - for the most part she seriously has NO moves unless we want to count freezing and throwing up
- Charley showing an amazing lack of interest in finding out what she is capable of and absolutely zero motivation to lift a finger to make an attempt to find out.
- Charley actually feeling bad about the one cool (and totally justified) thing she managed to do

Despite all the torture and death, the Charley Davidson books still manage to be light, easy reading. Maybe because of the tone, Charley's kind of stupid, annoying sense of humor, her tendency to name her internal organs and her couch, and the way that things don't seem to get too "deep" no matter how awful they get. There's a nice blend of mystery, action, romance and (sometimes attempted) humor.
Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet was awesome. Charley was suffering from some major issues after her terrible encounter with Earl Walker in her apartment at the end of the previous book, but she wasn't necessarily able to admit that. Instead, she developed a major problem of watching infomercials and buying nearly everything, letting the boxes pile up on The Spot in her living room where she almost lost her life.

What I liked so much about Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet is realizing just how many people care about Charley and her wellbeing. Even her father, despite the things he did to her in the last book. Maybe even, (gasp!) Denise. Even Reyes helped her out with the stress she was experiencing.. in more ways than one.

I also really liked Charley's case in this installment because I honestly didn't know who on earth was to blame and I liked watching her figure the case out. Also, with each book, I find out more and more information about Reyes, his past, and what exactly his connection to Charley is. I love how they come together, but make each other mad and exasperated, too.

This series is so awesome. It's funny, vibrant, entertaining, romantic, mysterious, and thrilling to read. I definitely recommend it and I think that each book gets better and better. It's a great urban fantasy for lovers of anything paranormal, weird, or slightly mysterious.
